Epson’s Heat-Free Technology appeals to the growing eco-consciousness of the post-pandemic consumer

The beauty of Epson’s Heat-Free Technology lies in its ink ejection process that does not require heat, made possible by Epson’s proprietary Micro Piezo inkjet technology which separates it from other inkjet printers.

Compared to laser printers, Epson’s Heat-Free Technology allows its inkjet printers to consume 85% less power[1] with no fuser unit to heat and 59% fewer replacement parts[2] with no heat damage to the printheads. This results in time and cost savings for businesses while doing more for the environment, especially during these challenging times.

[1] Statistics above are based on results from internal testing conducted by Epson, using Epson L6550 ISO Color 12ipm vs Laser model ISO Color 22ppm test for power consumed to print 20 pages. Testing single page A4 document of ISO Office Final PDF (ISO/IEC 24734). Each test was conducted twice by Epson to ensure consistency of results. Both printers have been tested under same conditions.

Comparison models were selected from among the top-selling 50% of A4 color laser printers (21-30ppm class) listed in IDC Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker 2019Q3 data CY2018Q4-CY2019Q3 results. The volume of consumables and replacement parts needed to print 200K pages was calculated by Epson based on yields published by the manufacture for each model. Quoted yields are stimulated figures calculated by Epson based on ISO/IEC24712 methodology.

[3] Replacement cartridge yields are based on ISO/IEC 24711 tests in Default Mode printing continuously. Cartridge yields vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink colour. All ink colours are used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colours have to be installed for printing. For print quality, part of the ink from the included cartridges is used for printer start and a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the “replace cartridge” signal.
